Resolutions of IPTS Students’ Leaders Summit 2009

We, the delegates of IPTS Students’ Leaders Summit represented by President of Student Representative Council from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Multimedia University Cyberjaya, Multimedia University Melaka, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Universiti Industri Selangor, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College, Selangor International Islamic University College, INSANIAH University College, and HELP University College, have agreed to bring this resolution to the Ministry of Higher Education for them to;

1. Provide the opportunity to IPTS, together with the IPTA in participating leadership or student development program in order to have more exposure.

2. Seek help from the MOHE in order to identify national icon that can be a mentor for student, and to create awareness of student about the advantage of involving in mentor mentee program.

3. Include the involvement of private sector in mentor mentee program so that there are more opportunities for local and international students who joined to get internship.

4. Request that the government to give a clear and detail explanations to the IPTS students about the One Malaysia concept and; conducting a survey among IPTS students to gauge their understanding and acceptance of One Malaysia concept.

5. Suggest that the institution who regulates the awarding of research grant to give more trust to IPTS and awarding more research grants, and also to suggest the government to advice GLC and selected private companies to create more opportunities for internship placement.

6. Request that the ministry to acknowledge and reward the athletes from IPTS, as an appreciation of their talent, skills, and contributions; and to treat the IPTS equally in terms of participating events that is offered to IPTA.

7. Appeal to the ministry to send a memorandum to the Immigration Department and the Royal Malaysian Police to explain the power of the i-card and its function as the replacement for international students’ passport during studies in Malaysia.

8. Suggest the ministry to urge the university to expose the expenses in order to renew or making a new student visa for the international student according to the duration of their studies.
